A special cruise for school holidays!

A former harbour pilot joins us onboard MV Sootychaser.

A pilots job is to climb onboard a large ship, before it enters the harbour. And to help the captain navigate it down the long, winding channel.

A dangerous place for a big ship! 

Does anything ever go wrong? How big is the steering wheel? (helm).

What happens when there is a storm? Ask these questions and learn about what really goes on, in the wheelhouse of a big ship!

Port Chalmers departure is at 10:00am -11am from Back Beach (39 Peninsula Beach Road, Port Chalmers)

Or 10 minutes later from Portobello Wharf (837 Portobello Road).

Cruise is 1 hour in duration.
