Cruise across the beautiful Otago Harbour from Back Beach, Port Chalmers, to see the old hulks in their graveyards on Quarantine Island, on the way to Portobello.
There, on the shore lye the SS Waikana (sister ship of Earnslaw) and Oreti. You will receiving an insightful commentary as we cruise to Portobello to see the maritime museum and to join a talk on the harbour hulks from expert Gary Bain.
Afterwards you will have time to browse the artifacts at the museum including lanterns and other items from some of the old ships that came into Port Chalmers since 1848.
This includes admission to the museum, the talk by expert Gary Bain, a return ferry trip, and a hot drink and scones at the museum.
We depart from Back Beach in Port Chalmers at 10:15am. We will have you there in time for the 10:45am talk at the museum.
The ferry then leaves Portobello at 12:00pm to bring you back to Back Beach
Please note there is an easy and flat 400 metre walk to the Portobello Maritime Museum, from the Portobello Wharf.
